The Codman Estate never fails to please. There is a turn of the century Italian garden behind the 1740s mansion with a gazing pond filled with lily pads and frogs, plus statuary and lovely plantings. Further down from the mansion there is a carriage house with a fenced in rose arbor garden (c. 1930s) in behind and acres of walled fields in front. There are tree lined paths and a short walk away (5 minutes) a working farm with lovely old white barns, chickens, pigs and a thriving farm store. If you are lucky the big brown bulls will be out in the fields, and behind the estate there is a large pen with llamas. Something for everyone! |
