Painting as if life matters
Linda has always enjoyed the creative arts. She painted in oils at college and then developed a passion for weaving. Specifically she loved color and the way the fibers mixed. She taught weaving for many years while she was working as a software engineer for international telephone systems.
In the last 14 years Linda has rediscovered painting but this time with watercolors. For Linda transparent watercolor is spontaneous and magical with results that are luminous unlike any other medium. At times a painting can almost paint itself. She is often genuinely surprised by her paintings!
Linda paints primarily from nature with many of her landscapes painted on location, en plein air. She has painted landscapes near her home in Massachusetts as well as in Mexico, Alaska, New Zealand, China, Greece and England.
Lately Linda has been developing her passion for abstract realism; that is, art that is inspired by real life yet doesn’t look like a photograph. Instead her art, which can be both bold and subtle, gives impressions of how a place can make you feel. This can include emotions, thoughts, and memories.
