SUMMARY:Creative Journey by Painting in Series
DESCRIPTION:Painting in a Series\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPablo Picasso famously said\, “One cannot truly follow the creative process except through a series.”  And painting in a series is what he did\, as did Claude Monet (think Haystacks\, Lily Pads\, & Rouen Cathedral) and Japanese painter Hokusai (Mount Fuji paintings). \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are fortunate to have Chetana Keltcher\, who has taught this course three times after studying with the course’s originator\, Mike Bailey\, at the University of California\, Santa Cruz.  This is a class many of us have taken multiple times\, and we are pleased to announce that Chetana is willing to guide us through the class for another session. DESCRIPTION: \n\nWHEN:\nNovember 14th\, 15th & 16th\, 2025 – 9am to 4pm\n\n\nOPEN TO MEMBERS & NON-MEMBERS\n\nHOSTED BY:\nNew England Watercolor Society\nat The Mosesian Center for the Arts\n321 Arsenal Street\, Watertown\, MA 02472 (map)\n\n\n\nWorkshop Description:\n\nDuring her workshop\, Janine will spend time with each student to determine which habits are being repeated and actually hindering progress; she will then use target exercises to change these unwanted habits and correct weaknesses.\n\nStudents will then put these new habits to the test by painting full paintings and see how progress has evolved. Yes\, correcting habits can occur that fast!\n\n“My role as an artist is to create art that touches people and makes them consider different positions on life. I feel that technique is over-rated and “feeling” in a painting is under-rated. However\, when both are combined the effect is so much stronger.
